A toilet can get clogged for a variety of different reasons. An individual may have used too much toilet paper, or a child might have flushed something that they weren’t supposed to. No matter what the case may be, it is imperative that this clog be dealt with quickly in order to keep it from getting worse. Fortunately, there are some different ways to easily unclog a toilet.
One of the first tools that many individuals reach for when their toilet is clogged is a plunger. They may be able to use it to move whatever is trapped so that the water in the toilet bowl will go down. It is important to use the plunger forcefully in order to create enough suction. Plungers tend to work best for minor clogs.
Vinegar and Baking Soda
A lot of people are able to unclog a toilet by using vinegar and baking soda. In order for this method to work, a cup of baking soda should be poured into the toilet bowl, followed by a cup of vinegar. When the two ingredients are combined, they will start to fizz. This mixture needs to sit in the toilet bowl for about 15 minutes so that it has enough time to dislodge the clog.
For clogs that are tough and will not seem to dislodge on their own, a snake may need to be used. How it works is that the snake gets put into the toilet bowl and is threaded down into the drain so that it comes into contact with whatever is trapped. If the snake is able to dislodge the clog, then the water in the toilet bowl will start to go down.
